Grammy Awards cuts down Hip Hop & R&B Categories for 2012
Music industry vet Steve Stoute blamed the Grammy board for "losing touch" according to the overlooked artists who many believed deserved awards. Stoute and president Neil Portnow vowed to increase diversity in the presitigous award ceremony. The Grammys has cut down the amount of hip-hop and R&B honors being given out each year, eliminating gender distinctions in the R&B categories and merging "Best Rap Solo Performance" and "Best Rap Performance for a Duo or Group" into one category. They have cut the number of R&B awards in half. This also means hip-hop and R&B artists will be recognized even less in the upcoming years, if these changes remain. Now your favroite rapper or R&B singer will only walk away with only 1 or 2 awards.
